There are so many things that happened on December 6; kids were born, unfortunately, some lives were lost, authors released books, some people wedded, others divorced, the list is endless.

- 1790 – The U.S. Congress moved from New York to Philadelphia.
- 1865 – The Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted.
- 1917 – Finnish declared its Independence from Russia.
- 1922 – The Irish Free State was established following the signing of the treaty between the British and Irish representatives.
- 1923 – U.S. President Calvin Coolidge became the first president to give a presidential address that was broadcast on radio.
- 1947 – U.S. President Truman dedicated Everglades National Park in Florida.
- 1957 – America’s first attempt at putting a satellite into orbit failed when the satellite blew up on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, FL.
- 1967 – The world’s first pediatric heart transplant.
- 1977 – South Africa granted independence to Bophuthatswana.
- 1988 – Nelson Mandela was transferred to Victor Vester Prison, Capetown.
- 1989 – The worst mass shooting in Canadian history occurred when a man gunned down 14 women at the University of Montreal’s school of engineering.
- 1989 – Egon Krenz resigned as leader of East Germany.
- 1990 – Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, died.
- 1990 – Iraq announced that it would release all its 2,000 foreign hostages.
- 1992 – Germany’s primary political parties agreed to tighten postwar asylum laws.
- 1995 – Michael Jackson collapsed while rehearsing for an HBO special.
- 2017 – US President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, announcing plans to move the U.S. embassy there.
- 2017 – Starbucks opened its largest cafe in the world in Shanghai, 30,000 square feet, 1/2 the size of a football field.
- 2018 – Luxembourg was the first country to make all public transport free.
- 2020 -US President Donald Trump ordered about 700 troops withdrawn from Somalia.
